Nola Leverenz receives the Saul Gresky Award!

At the December joint holiday breakfast given by North Texas Relocation Network and NTRP, last year’s recipient, Sandra Eh-lert, VP and Relocation Director of Allie Beth Allman and Associ-ates, presented this year’s Saul Gresky award to Nola Leverenz of Nelson Westerberg Inc. The Saul Gresky Award is presented annually to one corporate or re-location service provider profes-sional who best exemplifies the tradition of high customer ser-vice, makes a major contribution to the positive image of the relo-cation professional, and inspires cooperation and support among members of the reloca-tion industry.

Nola was an excellent choice for this year’s award. She has been an active volunteer and board member of the local ERC chap-ters since 1994. Nola has served as Outreach Chair, Spon-sorship Chair, Membership Chair, Newsletter Chair, Vice President, Advisory Chair, Presi-dent, Treasurer, and Co-President along with Jill Wylie in 2006 when the North Texas Re-location Council and the Dallas Relocation merged to become the North Texas Reloca-tion Professionals. Nola says "It's been a pleasure and joy to

be a part of these organizations. I have so much gratitude for the countless members who have encouraged, supported, and shared best practices in the goal to promote excellence in relo-cation."

Present for the award were Bob Akres, General Manager at Nelson Westerberg, and Tom Leverenz, Nola’s husband of 36 years. Tom and Nola were transferred to Dal-las from Madison, WI so Tom could work for Frito Lay. They live in Flower Mound.

The next time you see Nola, please congratulate her on this coveted and well deserved award.

NTRP raises $1,000.00 for North Texas Food Bank!

The North Texas Relocation Professionals organization raised $790 in the 50/50 Raffle for the North Texas Food Bank at our November lunch meeting.

The drawing winner was Viktor Reznicek of ACS, who generously donated his proceeds back to the charity. So 100% going to the charity! WOW! Thank you Viktor, and thank you NTRP! You all make a difference!

An additional $210 was later donated to bring our total to $1,000.00!

Our guest speaker will be Mr. John Terrell, DFW Airport Vice President for Commercial Development. He will present the future plans for the DFW International Airport based on the future of DFW. This will be a major factor in the growth and development of the Dallas Metroplex.

ERC Conference Report

Worldwide ERC's National Relocation Conference in Las Vegas on May 18-20 was an amazing event for the relocation industry professionals. Networking with peers, CRP certification credits, and Industry trends and updates were just some of the reasons for attending the event...

As the President of North Texas Relocation Professionals, I wanted to attend the event to hear from our national organization so I could share with our membership, and learn what others are doing to have success.

Here are some takeaways from the conference:

The conference kicked off with an opening reception on Wednesday evening. There were more than 50 exhibitors displaying their products and services for the attendees.

Thursday morning opened with a message from our CEO Peggy Smith. WOW! She really brought some energy to the room. She outlined some of the benefits of the conference including YP40, Foundation benefiting Opportunity Village, CRP testing coming to us, and more... ERC aspiration's include Client acquisition, Client Delight, Client Innovation, and Client Support... She left with the following:

This is our organization... "OWN, LIVE, and LOVE your ASSOCIATION!"

The keynote speaker was Dan Heath, co-author of the book "Switch"! He delivered an inspiring message that left us all with a suggestion to "find the bright spots" in each of our organizations. One of the most impactful questions might be "Wouldn't it be cool to ______?" Just fill in the blank!

Education sessions were all great from Today's housing market, Fundamentals of relocation, US Tax and Legal Updates, Social Media Lab (BYOL), Turkey houses, and more... All of the presenters were the best for the best in our industry... and as a bonus, we were encouraged to twitter updates throughout the conference on some of the things we learned at each session!

ERC had an awards presentation at lunch in which several attendees received Meritorious awards for their outstanding contributions to our industry... One of the awards was given to our very own NTRP member - Rob Johnson (3rd recipient). Way to go Rob! We would also like to congratulate Ebby Halliday Realtors for being awarded as Broker of the Year for SIRVA, and Ron Box for appraiser of the year for SIRVA too.

NTRP Members Ron Box, Rob Johnson, Martha Marshall, and Tina Swenson were all speakers at the conference. Great job team!

The NTRP organization walked in the Foundation Walk on Friday... It was so exciting seeing everyone get up to walk at 7am for the Opportunity Village... and the North Texas Relocation Hats were a HIT! Way to go NTRP...

I look forward to sharing more insight at our upcoming meetings. I hope to see you at our next breakfast meeting on August 11 at the Omni!
