2011 Outreach

We are pleased to announce that our Outreach Program this year will locally support the North Texas Food Bank and nationally the Worldwide ERC Foundation.

The North Texas Food Bank supports nutritional programs in 13 north Texas counties.  Currently, they estimate there is a 29 million meal shortfall between what people need (three meals per day) and what they have.  Many of our neighbors struggle between paying bills and buying food.  Many children only have the meal provided by their school system and go hungry in the evenings and weekends.   Many households, in fact 40% of those served by the NTFB, are the “working hungry”- not able to provide meals sufficient for their families.  The NTFB has a simple mission:  provide meals to those in need.

Jan Pruitt, NTFB President and CEO, states “it is no longer acceptable to grow incrementally.  We must do what needs to be done to meet the need.”  To meet this need, the NTFB has created a program entitled Close the Gap:   in 2011 the goal is to provide 50 million meals.

How can you help?  Please join our NTRP on-line Virtual Food Drive!  This is a fun program that is rather like on-line shopping—you log on and select from the menu of needed groceries or simply make a cash donation.  Please click HERE to begin shopping on our Virtual Food Drive.  You will receive a confirmation email immediately that can be used as a tax receipt.

The advantage of the virtual program is that there is no expense to the NTFB.  A traditional food drive of collected canned goods cost the non-profit in labor and operation expense.

So everyone get ready to combine our shopping power!  Let’s make a difference in our local community!

The Worldwide ERC Foundation has a three prong mission:  Education, Research, and Charity.   Since its inception in 2004, the Foundation has conducted and published studies related to workforce mobility, started a scholarship program, and supported communities in times of national and global crises.

The most recent research project was a joint venture with the Thunderbird School of Global Management quantifying attributes of successful expatriates.

Each year, the Foundation identifies and supports a local charity in the various cities hosting the national and global workforce mobility conferences.
